US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has increased the period a Canadian or Mexican worker under a TN Visa (Trade-NAFTA) may stay in the United States before obtaining readmission or an extension of stay.  The newly instituted rule changes the period of time from one year to three years.  Eligible TN nonimmigrants may be also be allowed to receive extensions of stay for up to three years, instead of one under the old rule.
