H1B Problems for 2011
Well here we go again. In 2007 and 2008 the H1B visas ran out the first day (April 1), and then last year companies were prevented from using the program (TARP funding), and the California Service Center went crazy with inappropriate Requests for Evidence. So its only natural as we look ahead to April 1, 2010, [...]
Congress is Schizophrenic (on Immigration in the Stimulus Bill)
Are they trying to help or hurt? I know I am not saying anything revolutionary, but the reality is I am convinced even they don’t know for sure. When it came to the Stimulus Bill there were sadly only two (2) immigration cross overs and they were both of the restrictive kind. The first thankfully [...]
Let’s Get Immigration Right II
I am begining to think I could work for the NY Times Editorial Board. They did it again. On Sunday they issued the following:
The country needs to control its borders. It needs to rebuild an effective immigration system and thwart employers who cheat it. It needs to bring the undocumented forward and make citizen taxpayers [...]
Maybe there is hope for the Raids to End
So the first ICE raid since Pres. Obama took over just took place in Seattle, WA. It looked like more of the same policies. But then Sec. Napolitano said that she wanted to review the raid. There is a light at the end of tunnel. I am hopeful that this craziness ends. We need to [...]
Here we go again….
Its the confirmation hearings, which means its time for immigration to come up in relation to the nominees. So we are discussing CIR, enforcement, right to counsel – right? Wrong…. Instead we are discussing whether your housekeeper or nanny was in status, whether you paid taxes, they had employment authorization..etc. Can you believe that these [...]
Let’s Get Immigration Right
As we look ahead to the new year, we have a lot of hope. There are pragmatists being appointed to immigration related positions in the new government. Gov. Napolitano and Gov. Richardson along with Rep. Hilda Solis bring a lot of years of straight talk and recognition that the same old things do not work. [...]
Obama to increase H-1B’s?
A great analysis of why and how this might happen – from Computerworld no less. We can hope – right?
Myers Out…Sheriff Joe in….Prop 202 out…What do people want?
Well Julie Myers is stepping down. This never qualified, absolutely wrong person for the job, is finally leaving her position. How she ever got to be Assistant Secretary for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is beyond me. Just one more poor appointment of the last few years.
But, Sheriff Joe Arpaio got re-elected. Arizona can not figure [...]
Rubashkin Gets Arrested
The CEO of Agriprocessors finally got hauled into court for immigration violations. Its interesting, it looks like most of the charges stem from activities after the raid. It looks like he assisted in getting the new employees fake documents, and even rehired some of the terminated people with new fake documents. This comes ont he [...]
Mayor Bloomberg Saves the US
Mayor Bloomberg wrote an awesome letter to the next president. It really hits home. I am inseritng the section on Immigration. Please listen people!
Immigration
Pioneering green energy—and countless other new technologies—requires the best and brightest minds. Unfortunately, our broken immigration system has been shutting too many of them out. In many cases, brilliant young students come [...]
US should take some lessons from Canada!
I am so frustrated with how backwards the current US Immigration system is. Workers are needed in so many categories and so often its just impossible to get to the US or stay in the US. But then you see the programs that Alberta, Canada is running, and you can’t help but wonder how they [...]
How come no one says anything about Immigration?
I watched another debate last night, and still not one word about Immigration, reform, policy, enforcement. How can something that was such an important issue be gone? No one in Congress seeems to do anything for the professions that need workers, like nursing, or trucking. What about the fact that Microsoft is moving jobs to [...]
“Pushing Back on Immigration”- NY Times Editorial
“There is nothing good about the country’s ever more merciless campaign of immigration enforcement. But at least there are emerging signs of resistance, from one of the most important, yet curiously disengaged, players in the debate: employers.”

Problems in Illinois
How come Illinois after getting it right is backing down? They told those idiots from DHS and other federal departments that e-Verify should not be used, and now after being sued they can’t even pass a watered down version of the law. Fight the law or don’t but stop wasting my tax dollars!
“Employers Fight Tough Measures on Immigration”
“Under pressure from the toughest crackdown on illegal immigration in two decades, employers across the country are fighting back in state legislatures, the federal courts and city halls.”
