Myers Out…Sheriff Joe in….Prop 202 out…What do people want?
Well Julie Myers is stepping down. This never qualified, absolutely wrong person for the job, is finally leaving her position. How she ever got to be Assistant Secretary for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is beyond me. Just one more poor appointment of the last few years.
But, Sheriff Joe Arpaio got re-elected. Arizona can not figure out what they want to do. I mean not only did they re-elect a guy who most people claim to think is bad for the state, but they also go and don’t approve a ballot measure that was favored by businesses (during a bad economy) that would have at least made their bad law on immigration enforcement somewhat palatable. The change would have limited the liability of losing your license to transact business to those that have actual knowledge of hiring those not eligible to work. But it also failed.
We need to fix our system and this is not a great sign.
